Hi people, I am just wondering is it possible for me to secure a job in US. I am a graduate and is totally blind. The work here really sucks as I really have no choice, and a job opportunity seems like a "gift" although u dislike it, or it doesn't fit you. Sick!
I suppose it depends on what kind of work your willing to do
What is your major/degree. I think your chances are not great. In order to get a job in the U.S. you either have to get an H1-B non-resident visa and a company has to get that for you and sponsor you, and you really hve to be good to get there, or you have to get a perminant residency by marrying or being adopted by a U.S. person, or you have to go to post graduate eduaction the U.S. (which is probably your best bet) and try to get a job that way.
what's your major dagrie?
mine's ICT
well, I can't speak for the states, but even in the UK, marrying a brittish national does not guarantee you a visa. it is a common misconception that all you have to do is marry a brit, and ... voila, visa application approved, it takes two years to get a permanent residence visa in this country, and if you marry a brittish national before you begin the application process, although you can live here on a temporary visa during that time, you are not allowed to work while you are waiting for the application to be approved. if you come over on a work permit, then you can marry a brittish national and work on your work visa, but you then still have to go through the process of applying for a permanent one.
I'm not sure how you go about getting a work visa, as far as I know it's not all that straightforward. a friend of mine came over here and the only way he could get in was on an ancestral visa, based on the fact his granfather has a brittish passport.
